Narrative:
Aircraft departed VFR then called for clearance, gave clearance to aircraft. D side keyboard was busy when I went to depart flight plan. Then I got busy and forgot to depart flight plan. Aircraft entered rdu airspace without a handoff. Problem was discovered when rdu asked about the code in his airspace. Need to have computer activate flight plan when aircraft squawks the discrete code.

Title: ARTCC RADAR CTLR RECEIVES CALL FROM VFR ACFT REQUESTING CLRNC. THE CLRNC WAS ISSUED BUT THE CTLR FORGOT TO DEPART THE FLT PLAN ON THE D SIDE KEYBOARD.
Narrative: ACFT DEPARTED VFR THEN CALLED FOR CLRNC, GAVE CLRNC TO ACFT. D SIDE KEYBOARD WAS BUSY WHEN I WENT TO DEPART FLT PLAN. THEN I GOT BUSY AND FORGOT TO DEPART FLT PLAN. ACFT ENTERED RDU AIRSPACE WITHOUT A HDOF. PROB WAS DISCOVERED WHEN RDU ASKED ABOUT THE CODE IN HIS AIRSPACE. NEED TO HAVE COMPUTER ACTIVATE FLT PLAN WHEN ACFT SQUAWKS THE DISCRETE CODE.
