Narrative:
I was making a medical flight from ZZZ, us, airport to a downtown ZZZ hospital. After departing ZZZ airspace, initiating a climb from 6500 ft to 7000 ft MSL and turning on course to hospital in downtown ZZZ, a cessna single engine airplane suddenly appeared in my view through the right front windshield. It was traveling west to east and for several seconds had not been in view because of a center jamb separating the left and right window on the bell 407. I had recently completed a radio transmission on a frequency used for traffic operating over the city of ZZZ. My immediate action was to bank left to avoid a collision. It appeared that the cessna never saw my helicopter. The problem was caused by the lack of regulations governing aircraft flight in a high traffic area. Air-to-air communication should be a mandatory policy in a high traffic area.

Title: NMAC. PLT OF AN EMS BELL LONG RANGER TWIN 407 (BH06) BANKS L TO AVOID A SINGLE ENG CESSNA COMING ON A COLLISION COURSE DURING CLB TO A NEARBY HOSPITAL.
Narrative: I WAS MAKING A MEDICAL FLT FROM ZZZ, US, ARPT TO A DOWNTOWN ZZZ HOSPITAL. AFTER DEPARTING ZZZ AIRSPACE, INITIATING A CLB FROM 6500 FT TO 7000 FT MSL AND TURNING ON COURSE TO HOSPITAL IN DOWNTOWN ZZZ, A CESSNA SINGLE ENG AIRPLANE SUDDENLY APPEARED IN MY VIEW THROUGH THE R FRONT WINDSHIELD. IT WAS TRAVELING W TO E AND FOR SEVERAL SECONDS HAD NOT BEEN IN VIEW BECAUSE OF A CTR JAMB SEPARATING THE L AND R WINDOW ON THE BELL 407. I HAD RECENTLY COMPLETED A RADIO XMISSION ON A FREQ USED FOR TFC OPERATING OVER THE CITY OF ZZZ. MY IMMEDIATE ACTION WAS TO BANK L TO AVOID A COLLISION. IT APPEARED THAT THE CESSNA NEVER SAW MY HELI. THE PROB WAS CAUSED BY THE LACK OF REGS GOVERNING ACFT FLT IN A HIGH TFC AREA. AIR-TO-AIR COM SHOULD BE A MANDATORY POLICY IN A HIGH TFC AREA.
