Narrative:
First officer flying aircraft by hand, climbing to assigned altitude of 5000 ft MSL. He failed to level off at 5000 ft. I advised him at 100 ft prior to 5000 ft (standard call) and again as he flew through 5000 ft. He took prompt and corrective action and stopped climb at 5400 ft and immediately descended back to 5000 ft.
