Narrative:
While cruising from bed to ilg, my copilot was using communication #1 -- a king KX155 -- to communicate with pvd approach. The radio volume knob failed without our knowledge. After a period of radio silence, we tried to talk with approach control. With no contact, we tried communication #2 and were able to contact approach. Upon return to our home base, we scheduled the radio for repair.
