Narrative:
Departed dfw-sea. Line of WX wnw of dfw. Deviated 100 NM on TTT 270 degree radial. Center gave right turn direct ama, climb to FL390. Out of FL358 center asked us to maintain FL350. Selected altitude hold and then vertical speed to initiate descent. Heard center give air carrier Y an immediate left turn of 40 degrees. Center then gave air carrier X an immediate left turn of 40 degrees. Disconnected autoplt, began descending turn to FL350. Leveled at FL346 and climbed to FL350. Center advised us that no alerts were triggered. Feel that ATC lost track of the air carrier Y when we were given clearance to FL390. Dfw center frequency at time 132.92.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: DURING AN ASSIGNED CLB, ARTCC RADAR CTLR GAVE AN IMMEDIATE L TURN TO RPTR AND ANOTHER ACR ACFT TO MAINTAIN LEGAL SEPARATION. THE RPTING CAPT BELIEVES THAT THE CTLR FORGOT ABOUT THE ASSIGNED FLT PATH OF THE OTHER ACR ACFT DUE TO GIVING VECTORS TO BOTH ACFT FROM ASSIGNED COURSE FOR WX AVOIDANCE.
