Narrative:
I changed my sequence to afford priority to a lifeguard flight. I advised the B737 I would vector it across the localizer. I turned the lifeguard flight left base, the B737 was on right base I thought, actually was turning to right dogleg. Traffic was issued twice to B737 (5 mi and 2 mi). B737 was still IMC and lifeguard was not yet low enough to be below the ceiling. I knew this would be a little close, traffic calls to B737 were also for TCASII. At the 2 mi call the B737 advised it was in a right turn. I don't know if this right turn was TCASII inspired or not, but it brought the 2 aircraft closer together (approximately 1 mi).
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ANC TRACON CTLR ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE APCH SEQUENCING TO PUT A LIFEGUARD BE20 IN FRONT OF A B737. VECTOR PLANNING WAS INSUFFICIENT TO PREVENT A LOSS OF SEPARATION.
Narrative: I CHANGED MY SEQUENCE TO AFFORD PRIORITY TO A LIFEGUARD FLT. I ADVISED THE B737 I WOULD VECTOR IT ACROSS THE LOC. I TURNED THE LIFEGUARD FLT L BASE, THE B737 WAS ON R BASE I THOUGHT, ACTUALLY WAS TURNING TO R DOGLEG. TFC WAS ISSUED TWICE TO B737 (5 MI AND 2 MI). B737 WAS STILL IMC AND LIFEGUARD WAS NOT YET LOW ENOUGH TO BE BELOW THE CEILING. I KNEW THIS WOULD BE A LITTLE CLOSE, TFC CALLS TO B737 WERE ALSO FOR TCASII. AT THE 2 MI CALL THE B737 ADVISED IT WAS IN A R TURN. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS R TURN WAS TCASII INSPIRED OR NOT, BUT IT BROUGHT THE 2 ACFT CLOSER TOGETHER (APPROX 1 MI).
