Narrative:
I was giving flight instruction to one of my students. He is working on his private pilot and we were on our 6TH lesson. The briefing went pretty bad because my student did not study for the lesson. I decided to go fly anyway. We started the engine, called our flight operations office (this is a procedure that we have at our school), and we started taxiing. It was not until we were done with the run-up (in the run-up area, on one of the txwys) that I realized we forgot to call ground to get a taxi clearance. There was no safety issue involved since we were the only one on the taxiway at that time. I called ground right away and apologized (we had the ATIS, though). Causes of problem: 1) I am a fairly inexperienced instructor (17 hours dual given) and I am still very busy with everything I have to tell my student. I need to work on dividing my attention more. 2) new procedure at my flying school: after listening to the ATIS, we need to call flight operations to say that we are leaving the ramp, then call ground. We used to listen to ATIS, then call ground. This is perhaps why I skipped ground this time. 3) bad briefing with my student that irritated me. Remedy: work on concentrating more and divide attention between student and environment.

Title: AA5 INSTRUCTOR PLT TAXIES WITHOUT CLRNC AT MLB.
Narrative: I WAS GIVING FLT INSTRUCTION TO ONE OF MY STUDENTS. HE IS WORKING ON HIS PVT PLT AND WE WERE ON OUR 6TH LESSON. THE BRIEFING WENT PRETTY BAD BECAUSE MY STUDENT DID NOT STUDY FOR THE LESSON. I DECIDED TO GO FLY ANYWAY. WE STARTED THE ENG, CALLED OUR FLT OPS OFFICE (THIS IS A PROC THAT WE HAVE AT OUR SCHOOL), AND WE STARTED TAXIING. IT WAS NOT UNTIL WE WERE DONE WITH THE RUN-UP (IN THE RUN-UP AREA, ON ONE OF THE TXWYS) THAT I REALIZED WE FORGOT TO CALL GND TO GET A TAXI CLRNC. THERE WAS NO SAFETY ISSUE INVOLVED SINCE WE WERE THE ONLY ONE ON THE TXWY AT THAT TIME. I CALLED GND RIGHT AWAY AND APOLOGIZED (WE HAD THE ATIS, THOUGH). CAUSES OF PROB: 1) I AM A FAIRLY INEXPERIENCED INSTRUCTOR (17 HRS DUAL GIVEN) AND I AM STILL VERY BUSY WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE TO TELL MY STUDENT. I NEED TO WORK ON DIVIDING MY ATTN MORE. 2) NEW PROC AT MY FLYING SCHOOL: AFTER LISTENING TO THE ATIS, WE NEED TO CALL FLT OPS TO SAY THAT WE ARE LEAVING THE RAMP, THEN CALL GND. WE USED TO LISTEN TO ATIS, THEN CALL GND. THIS IS PERHAPS WHY I SKIPPED GND THIS TIME. 3) BAD BRIEFING WITH MY STUDENT THAT IRRITATED ME. REMEDY: WORK ON CONCENTRATING MORE AND DIVIDE ATTN BTWN STUDENT AND ENVIRONMENT.
