Narrative:
We were cleared to taxi to runway 9L via taxiway north. Time was approximately XA00. Visual condition was dark. Mia ATIS information included this statement: 'north side runup pad runway 9L is closed.' no other information on NOTAMS or special information messages. Our sequence was to follow string of temporary blue lights. Approximately 25 ft between lights beginning just west of M-1 and continued in a curve to near hold short line runway 9L. Air carrier aircraft we were sequenced behind was initially cleared to hold short runway 12. I taxied north to enable taxi around air carrier aircraft. Tower then changed to runway 9L and told us to expect runway 12. We taxied to hold short runway 12. Air carrier aircraft B727 behind us said we may have rolled over temporary light. Subsequent check by maintenance revealed cuts on right side tires 4 and 8. The switch of runways in close proximity of air carrier aircraft and the checklist requirements of the runway change lessened attention to the temporary apron lights.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A B767 WAS DIRECTED TO A NARROW TXWY LINED WITH TEMPORARY BLUE LIGHTS FOR TAXI. DURING MOVEMENT AROUND OTHER ACFT WHEN THE RWY WAS CHANGED, THE ACFT STRUCK SEVERAL BLUE LIGHTS, DAMAGING 2 TIRES.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 9L VIA TXWY N. TIME WAS APPROX XA00. VISUAL CONDITION WAS DARK. MIA ATIS INFO INCLUDED THIS STATEMENT: 'N SIDE RUNUP PAD RWY 9L IS CLOSED.' NO OTHER INFO ON NOTAMS OR SPECIAL INFO MESSAGES. OUR SEQUENCE WAS TO FOLLOW STRING OF TEMPORARY BLUE LIGHTS. APPROX 25 FT BTWN LIGHTS BEGINNING JUST W OF M-1 AND CONTINUED IN A CURVE TO NEAR HOLD SHORT LINE RWY 9L. ACR ACFT WE WERE SEQUENCED BEHIND WAS INITIALLY CLRED TO HOLD SHORT RWY 12. I TAXIED N TO ENABLE TAXI AROUND ACR ACFT. TWR THEN CHANGED TO RWY 9L AND TOLD US TO EXPECT RWY 12. WE TAXIED TO HOLD SHORT RWY 12. ACR ACFT B727 BEHIND US SAID WE MAY HAVE ROLLED OVER TEMPORARY LIGHT. SUBSEQUENT CHK BY MAINT REVEALED CUTS ON R SIDE TIRES 4 AND 8. THE SWITCH OF RWYS IN CLOSE PROX OF ACR ACFT AND THE CHKLIST REQUIREMENTS OF THE RWY CHANGE LESSENED ATTN TO THE TEMPORARY APRON LIGHTS.
