Narrative:

On taxi out, we were given taxi instructions to a different runway than expected. Due to the short taxi distance, I was very busy starting the other 2 engines. Runway 35R has a displaced threshold, the hold short line is nonstandard being about 150 ft north of the intersection of the taxiway and runway on the parallel. I did not see the hold short line and continued to taxi approximately 100 ft past the hold short when I noticed the green taxiway centerline lights and stopped. As I stopped, tower cleared me for takeoff. There were no other aircraft on final and the aircraft never came near the runway environment. I think that the hold short line, especially one that is in a nonstandard position, needs to be marked better. There were no yellow lights on the taxiway marking the hold short. My attention to taxiing could have been better, by starting the other engines earlier.

Title: DC8 TAXIES PAST RWY HOLD LINE AT SDF.

Narrative: ON TAXI OUT, WE WERE GIVEN TAXI INSTRUCTIONS TO A DIFFERENT RWY THAN EXPECTED. DUE TO THE SHORT TAXI DISTANCE, I WAS VERY BUSY STARTING THE OTHER 2 ENGS. RWY 35R HAS A DISPLACED THRESHOLD, THE HOLD SHORT LINE IS NONSTANDARD BEING ABOUT 150 FT N OF THE INTXN OF THE TXWY AND RWY ON THE PARALLEL. I DID NOT SEE THE HOLD SHORT LINE AND CONTINUED TO TAXI APPROX 100 FT PAST THE HOLD SHORT WHEN I NOTICED THE GREEN TXWY CTRLINE LIGHTS AND STOPPED. AS I STOPPED, TWR CLRED ME FOR TKOF. THERE WERE NO OTHER ACFT ON FINAL AND THE ACFT NEVER CAME NEAR THE RWY ENVIRONMENT. I THINK THAT THE HOLD SHORT LINE, ESPECIALLY ONE THAT IS IN A NONSTANDARD POS, NEEDS TO BE MARKED BETTER. THERE WERE NO YELLOW LIGHTS ON THE TXWY MARKING THE HOLD SHORT. MY ATTN TO TAXIING COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER, BY STARTING THE OTHER ENGS EARLIER.
