Narrative:
Aircraft xyz arrived ZZZ approximately XA00 dec/xa/98. Pilot reported (navigation ILS 2 fault) intermittent in logbook. In pilot's flight manual there is a procedure for dealing with this fault. In flight information letter xx-Y, page 4, it tells pilot to pull circuit breaker for multi-mode receivers and reset them. If problem goes away, then multi-mode receiver is considered ok. In line air carrier manual we have a letter dated oct/xc/98 from airbus industries stating the operation recommendation and maintenance recommendations. The aircraft didn't have a fault latched on ECAM after it arrived at the gate. The way I read the airbus letter, if the fault is latched then pull circuit breaker and if it resets then it's ok. There was no fault showing on ECAM. After talking to maintenance control and airbus representative and pilots, I signed the logbook off, referencing the pilots handbook and letter xx-Y, page 4. Believing that this would be a CAT item, I wasn't sure if this was proper to use a letter from airbus.

Narrative: ACFT XYZ ARRIVED ZZZ APPROX XA00 DEC/XA/98. PLT RPTED (NAV ILS 2 FAULT) INTERMITTENT IN LOGBOOK. IN PLT'S FLT MANUAL THERE IS A PROC FOR DEALING WITH THIS FAULT. IN FLT INFO LETTER XX-Y, PAGE 4, IT TELLS PLT TO PULL CIRCUIT BREAKER FOR MULTI-MODE RECEIVERS AND RESET THEM. IF PROB GOES AWAY, THEN MULTI-MODE RECEIVER IS CONSIDERED OK. IN LINE ACR MANUAL WE HAVE A LETTER DATED OCT/XC/98 FROM AIRBUS INDUSTRIES STATING THE OP RECOMMENDATION AND MAINT RECOMMENDATIONS.
