Narrative:
2 aircraft in same area with similar call signs. Our was air carrier X, the other was air carrier Y. We acknowledged and read back a clearance to descend from 12000 ft to 10000 ft. As we were passing through 11000 ft, the approach controller said to level off at 11000 ft, that everything was ok, and that he missed our readback. We don't know if we took the clearance from another aircraft, or if controller gave clearance to wrong aircraft. No known solutions for mistaking call signs, or missing readbacks.
