Narrative:
On dec/xa/98 an inspection revealed that chrome was chipped on outboard axle bearing surface. The corrective action taken was to polish axle bearing surface. On dec/xc/98 I was assembling sliding member and on closer inspection found that the chrome was still chipped and the base metal was visible by using a solution of copper sulfate. This repair was not in accordance with air carrier overhaul manual repair #ZZZ. Since the repair was bought by inspection I was told to continue on building up sliding member by my supervisor.
