Narrative:

Clt tower cleared our aircraft into position and hold on runway 36R. We acknowledged the clearance and started crossing the runway hold line. We then heard part of a blocked transmission in which another aircraft reported 'position and hold.' we stopped and tried to verify our clearance and by the time we did, the spacing on landing traffic for runway 36R was too close and a company aircraft made a go around. We later learned that clt tower was using 1 frequency for both runways -- a nonstandard practice for runway 36L&right. Neither runway is visible to the other and at a hub airport with many similar company call signs this practice should not be allowed.

Narrative: CLT TWR CLRED OUR ACFT INTO POS AND HOLD ON RWY 36R. WE ACKNOWLEDGED THE CLRNC AND STARTED XING THE RWY HOLD LINE. WE THEN HEARD PART OF A BLOCKED XMISSION IN WHICH ANOTHER ACFT RPTED 'POS AND HOLD.' WE STOPPED AND TRIED TO VERIFY OUR CLRNC AND BY THE TIME WE DID, THE SPACING ON LNDG TFC FOR RWY 36R WAS TOO CLOSE AND A COMPANY ACFT MADE A GAR. WE LATER LEARNED THAT CLT TWR WAS USING 1 FREQ FOR BOTH RWYS -- A NONSTANDARD PRACTICE FOR RWY 36L&R.
