Narrative:

I feel that I had clearance for takeoff. A clearance or instructions from the controller requires a reply and I acknowledged my clearance and both pilot passenger heard the same incident at austin airport (aus) wed morning (approximately XA35 am local) on jan/wed/99, on a reported near miss between my aircraft abcd and an air carrier jet. After preflight at the FBO, and passenger aboard, I called clearance delivery for my clearance from aus to ftw. Clearance received and was advised to go to tower frequency for taxi and runway assignment. I was instructed to taxi to runway 35, which I did. The tower asked me my position shortly after that and I was told I was on the taxiway almost to runway 35. He said he could not see me and there was another aircraft departing runway 31L. I acknowledged that was fine as I still had to perform a run-up check of my aircraft. After the run-up was complete, I do not believe I told him I was ready on runway 35, but might have. Anyway, I was instructed to taxi in position and hold. I acknowledged position and hold 'bcd.' as I was moving to the runway for the 'hold' position the controller advised 'you are cleared for takeoff runway 35.' I acknowledged back 'bcd cleared for takeoff.' I did not hear any other transmission by the tower on my frequency. I did not takeoff immediately as I lined up with runway 35 for instrument checks and final checks. I began my takeoff roll and used most of the runway before rotating. The next voice I heard was the air carrier airline pilot stated he had seen a C210 taking off and he had to pull up to miss me. I immediately told the tower that I had clearance for takeoff. They asked me if I had seen the air carrier jet and I said 'none of us saw him.' had he been that close, I would have seen, heard and felt him passing over me. Both my passenger are pilots and understand the language and phrases used by the controllers. I believe they will concur or acknowledge what they heard. I regret this incident very much as safety is very important to me for everyone who flies an aircraft as pilot or passenger. Never would I have taken off if there was the slightest doubt about my being clear to takeoff. Please advise if I can be of further assistance in this most unfortunate incident.

Title: C210 AND AN ACR B737 HAD NMAC AT AUS.

Narrative: I FEEL THAT I HAD CLRNC FOR TKOF. A CLRNC OR INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE CTLR REQUIRES A REPLY AND I ACKNOWLEDGED MY CLRNC AND BOTH PLT PAX HEARD THE SAME INCIDENT AT AUSTIN ARPT (AUS) WED MORNING (APPROX XA35 AM LCL) ON JAN/WED/99, ON A RPTED NEAR MISS BTWN MY ACFT ABCD AND AN ACR JET. AFTER PREFLT AT THE FBO, AND PAX ABOARD, I CALLED CLRNC DELIVERY FOR MY CLRNC FROM AUS TO FTW. CLRNC RECEIVED AND WAS ADVISED TO GO TO TWR FREQ FOR TAXI AND RWY ASSIGNMENT. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAXI TO RWY 35, WHICH I DID. THE TWR ASKED ME MY POS SHORTLY AFTER THAT AND I WAS TOLD I WAS ON THE TXWY ALMOST TO RWY 35. HE SAID HE COULD NOT SEE ME AND THERE WAS ANOTHER ACFT DEPARTING RWY 31L. I ACKNOWLEDGED THAT WAS FINE AS I STILL HAD TO PERFORM A RUN-UP CHK OF MY ACFT. AFTER THE RUN-UP WAS COMPLETE, I DO NOT BELIEVE I TOLD HIM I WAS READY ON RWY 35, BUT MIGHT HAVE. ANYWAY, I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAXI IN POS AND HOLD. I ACKNOWLEDGED POS AND HOLD 'BCD.' AS I WAS MOVING TO THE RWY FOR THE 'HOLD' POS THE CTLR ADVISED 'YOU ARE CLRED FOR TKOF RWY 35.' I ACKNOWLEDGED BACK 'BCD CLRED FOR TKOF.' I DID NOT HEAR ANY OTHER XMISSION BY THE TWR ON MY FREQ. I DID NOT TKOF IMMEDIATELY AS I LINED UP WITH RWY 35 FOR INST CHKS AND FINAL CHKS. I BEGAN MY TKOF ROLL AND USED MOST OF THE RWY BEFORE ROTATING. THE NEXT VOICE I HEARD WAS THE ACR AIRLINE PLT STATED HE HAD SEEN A C210 TAKING OFF AND HE HAD TO PULL UP TO MISS ME. I IMMEDIATELY TOLD THE TWR THAT I HAD CLRNC FOR TKOF. THEY ASKED ME IF I HAD SEEN THE ACR JET AND I SAID 'NONE OF US SAW HIM.' HAD HE BEEN THAT CLOSE, I WOULD HAVE SEEN, HEARD AND FELT HIM PASSING OVER ME. BOTH MY PAX ARE PLTS AND UNDERSTAND THE LANGUAGE AND PHRASES USED BY THE CTLRS. I BELIEVE THEY WILL CONCUR OR ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT THEY HEARD. I REGRET THIS INCIDENT VERY MUCH AS SAFETY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME FOR EVERYONE WHO FLIES AN ACFT AS PLT OR PAX. NEVER WOULD I HAVE TAKEN OFF IF THERE WAS THE SLIGHTEST DOUBT ABOUT MY BEING CLR TO TKOF. PLEASE ADVISE IF I CAN BE OF FURTHER ASSISTANCE IN THIS MOST UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT.
