Narrative:
After deviating for an extensive line of thunderstorms, crew noticed that the 162 NM restr line for overwater crews may have been exceeded. Supplemental information from acn 426527: after going through the only descent break in the line, I realized I was a little south of the 162 mi limit. I crossed the line and proceeded back to within the 162 mi range. The aircraft was overwater equipped, but the crew was domestic. I did not feel it would have been safe to attempt to deviate between the individual cells of such an active WX system.
