Narrative:
Our original flight from sea-mem was delayed for aircraft maintenance. Eventually all the passenger were put on other flts and the company dispatched us to ferry the aircraft (no passenger, cargo or flight attendants) to lga. En route to lga, over far, the dispatcher called us and changed our destination to dtw. He then informed us that we (pilots and dispatcher) had broken a rule about lga that states you cannot be dispatched into or out of lga a distance greater than 1500 NM. Our violation of this rule was self-disclosed and the dispatcher said the FAA was not interested in taking any certificate action. We did land at dtw and did not continue to lga. The 1500 NM dispatch rule for lga is not common knowledge for part 121 pilots. It seems like this is strictly something a dispatcher would know or have access to. I'm wondering if there are other airports with a list of 'special rules' that could trap other pilots.

Title: COMPANY DISPATCHER REQUESTED THE FLC OF A B757 ENRTE ON A MAINT FERRY FLT TO DIVERT TO ANOTHER ARPT DUE TO THE DEST ARPT WAS RESTR TO FLTS WITHIN A 1500 MI RADIUS.
Narrative: OUR ORIGINAL FLT FROM SEA-MEM WAS DELAYED FOR ACFT MAINT. EVENTUALLY ALL THE PAX WERE PUT ON OTHER FLTS AND THE COMPANY DISPATCHED US TO FERRY THE ACFT (NO PAX, CARGO OR FLT ATTENDANTS) TO LGA. ENRTE TO LGA, OVER FAR, THE DISPATCHER CALLED US AND CHANGED OUR DEST TO DTW. HE THEN INFORMED US THAT WE (PLTS AND DISPATCHER) HAD BROKEN A RULE ABOUT LGA THAT STATES YOU CANNOT BE DISPATCHED INTO OR OUT OF LGA A DISTANCE GREATER THAN 1500 NM. OUR VIOLATION OF THIS RULE WAS SELF-DISCLOSED AND THE DISPATCHER SAID THE FAA WAS NOT INTERESTED IN TAKING ANY CERTIFICATE ACTION. WE DID LAND AT DTW AND DID NOT CONTINUE TO LGA. THE 1500 NM DISPATCH RULE FOR LGA IS NOT COMMON KNOWLEDGE FOR PART 121 PLTS. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS IS STRICTLY SOMETHING A DISPATCHER WOULD KNOW OR HAVE ACCESS TO. I'M WONDERING IF THERE ARE OTHER ARPTS WITH A LIST OF 'SPECIAL RULES' THAT COULD TRAP OTHER PLTS.
