Narrative:
I was flying as captain. I briefed departure and taxi route to runway 27L at mia. Ground control gave us taxi clearance to runway 27L as planned. Approaching the runway, tower cleared us for takeoff runway 27L. This is when the confusion began. I knew the first runway should be runway 27L as depicted or the airport diagram (chart 10-9). However, the only runway signs I saw were runway 30/12, never one for runway 27L/9R. Therefore, I taxied to the next runway. Approaching the runway, I asked the first officer to verify our takeoff clearance. Tower then replied, 'you are at the wrong runway but fly heading 290 degrees and cleared for takeoff runway 30.' we departed normally and had a routine flight to atlanta. The airport diagram seems very clear but the signs and markings at the intersection/departure end of runway 27L/30 were misleading and confusing.

Title: AN ACR FLC BECAME CONFUSED ON TXWY AT MIA AND TAXIED ONTO WRONG RWY FOR TKOF.
Narrative: I WAS FLYING AS CAPT. I BRIEFED DEP AND TAXI RTE TO RWY 27L AT MIA. GND CTL GAVE US TAXI CLRNC TO RWY 27L AS PLANNED. APCHING THE RWY, TWR CLRED US FOR TKOF RWY 27L. THIS IS WHEN THE CONFUSION BEGAN. I KNEW THE FIRST RWY SHOULD BE RWY 27L AS DEPICTED OR THE ARPT DIAGRAM (CHART 10-9). HOWEVER, THE ONLY RWY SIGNS I SAW WERE RWY 30/12, NEVER ONE FOR RWY 27L/9R. THEREFORE, I TAXIED TO THE NEXT RWY. APCHING THE RWY, I ASKED THE FO TO VERIFY OUR TKOF CLRNC. TWR THEN REPLIED, 'YOU ARE AT THE WRONG RWY BUT FLY HDG 290 DEGS AND CLRED FOR TKOF RWY 30.' WE DEPARTED NORMALLY AND HAD A ROUTINE FLT TO ATLANTA. THE ARPT DIAGRAM SEEMS VERY CLR BUT THE SIGNS AND MARKINGS AT THE INTXN/DEP END OF RWY 27L/30 WERE MISLEADING AND CONFUSING.
