Narrative:

I have been a flight attendant for only 9 months. Since I began, I have had 4 emergency lndgs. 3 of my emergencys were on takeoff due to engine #2 failures. All of my emergencys required immediate lndgs. All were on different B727's. No injuries were involved. I am writing to you because I am worried that the B727's are very often involved in mechanical problems resulting in emergency lndgs. Why is the number of incidents so high? 1) are they being well maintained? 2) are they old? I feel that 4 emergencys in my first 9 months is extreme. Can you research this and find out why engine #2 problems are occurring so often? I wanted to write this letter because any of those incidents could have been fatal. Past yrs' statistics have been approximately 30 engine failures per yr company wide. Am I unlucky that I have already been on a few of these? Most people I know say that our B727 fleet often has midair mechanical problems -- is this dangerous?
