Narrative:
No one ever told me that the runway was closed. Before engine start, I was taking care of my duties -- listening to company frequency and doing my paperwork, while my first officer was getting clearance and ATIS. My paperwork provided by the company did not show any runways closed. First officer called for takeoff and we thought that we were cleared to take off runway 25R (the runway we normally take off from). All runway lights were on, and runway appeared to be open. We held on that runway in position doing our checklists before takeoff.

Narrative: NO ONE EVER TOLD ME THAT THE RWY WAS CLOSED. BEFORE ENG START, I WAS TAKING CARE OF MY DUTIES -- LISTENING TO COMPANY FREQ AND DOING MY PAPERWORK, WHILE MY FO WAS GETTING CLRNC AND ATIS. MY PAPERWORK PROVIDED BY THE COMPANY DID NOT SHOW ANY RWYS CLOSED. FO CALLED FOR TKOF AND WE THOUGHT THAT WE WERE CLRED TO TAKE OFF RWY 25R (THE RWY WE NORMALLY TAKE OFF FROM).
