Narrative:
On climb out phl we were cleared to 7000 ft and direct modena. Just prior to leveloff I noticed something go under the aircraft. Sitting up higher and looking out below, I could see a blue and white parachute with something orange below it passing under the aircraft. I immediately called and reported it to approach control and the tower. They knew nothing of the event. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter states that he assumed the parachute to be carrying a person due to its size. He also states that he followed up with a call to phl after arriving at his destination, but they had no information on the jumper.
