Narrative:

During climb out from runway 12L at msp, an inlet turbine temperature differential of 80 degrees C was noticed. No previous indication was noted on takeoff or previous legs in same aircraft. Torque was set to comply with engine manufacturer's recommendations, based on inlet turbine temperature. While setting power, a maximum inlet turbine temperature of 891 degrees C was indicated on the left engine. Since engine power was available, and no emergency occurred, we elected to continue the flight to cwa. On maintenance examination, a cargo card was found in the left engine. Flight data recorder information indicated a maximum inlet turbine temperature of 970 degrees C, which was never noted on engine instrumentation. An inlet turbine temperature of 965 degrees C would produce 'over temperature' lights. Other flight data recorder records indicated an inlet turbine temperature differential of 115 degree C was indicated on the previous leg from eau to msp. This was not noted by either crew member. I wonder how often flight data recorders are checked for accuracy. The information in no way corroborated the readings we noted on cockpit instruments.

Title: FLC OF A TURBOPROP NOTICED HIGHER THAN NORMAL INLET TURBINE TEMP INDICATION FOR THE L ENG DURING CLBOUT AFTER TKOF. THE FLT WAS CONTINUED TO DEST SINCE THE ENG WAS PRODUCING NORMAL PWR.

Narrative: DURING CLBOUT FROM RWY 12L AT MSP, AN INLET TURBINE TEMP DIFFERENTIAL OF 80 DEGS C WAS NOTICED. NO PREVIOUS INDICATION WAS NOTED ON TKOF OR PREVIOUS LEGS IN SAME ACFT. TORQUE WAS SET TO COMPLY WITH ENG MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS, BASED ON INLET TURBINE TEMP. WHILE SETTING PWR, A MAX INLET TURBINE TEMP OF 891 DEGS C WAS INDICATED ON THE L ENG. SINCE ENG PWR WAS AVAILABLE, AND NO EMER OCCURRED, WE ELECTED TO CONTINUE THE FLT TO CWA. ON MAINT EXAM, A CARGO CARD WAS FOUND IN THE L ENG. FLT DATA RECORDER INFO INDICATED A MAX INLET TURBINE TEMP OF 970 DEGS C, WHICH WAS NEVER NOTED ON ENG INSTRUMENTATION. AN INLET TURBINE TEMP OF 965 DEGS C WOULD PRODUCE 'OVER TEMP' LIGHTS. OTHER FLT DATA RECORDER RECORDS INDICATED AN INLET TURBINE TEMP DIFFERENTIAL OF 115 DEG C WAS INDICATED ON THE PREVIOUS LEG FROM EAU TO MSP. THIS WAS NOT NOTED BY EITHER CREW MEMBER. I WONDER HOW OFTEN FLT DATA RECORDERS ARE CHKED FOR ACCURACY. THE INFO IN NO WAY CORROBORATED THE READINGS WE NOTED ON COCKPIT INSTS.
