Narrative:
While en route from mem to sgf, I noticed that our right turbine gas temperature gauge was fluctuating around 0 degrees C (or no reading) point when it should have been around 730 degrees C. All other engine parameters were normal. I brought it to the captain's attention and we referenced our emergency/abnormal checklist. The abnormal turbine gas temperature checklist instructed us to feather the engine, eg, a precautionary shutdown. We completed all necessary items on the checklist and I then declared an emergency, as I was operating the radios, with ZME. We were handed off to springfield approach control where we took the invitation to use the fire trucks standing by just for safety's sake. We landed without further trouble and the emergency situation was canceled without the use of the trucks. Human performance: timely action by crew and controllers. Readiness of ground crews great.

Title: FO OF AN ACR FAIRCHILD F27 NOTICED LACK OF R TURBINE ENG EXHAUST GAS TEMP INDICATION DURING CRUISE FLT RESULTING IN AN INFLT ENG SHUTDOWN AND EMER DECLARED FOR LNDG.
Narrative: WHILE ENRTE FROM MEM TO SGF, I NOTICED THAT OUR R TURBINE GAS TEMP GAUGE WAS FLUCTUATING AROUND 0 DEGS C (OR NO READING) POINT WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AROUND 730 DEGS C. ALL OTHER ENG PARAMETERS WERE NORMAL. I BROUGHT IT TO THE CAPT'S ATTN AND WE REFED OUR EMER/ABNORMAL CHKLIST. THE ABNORMAL TURBINE GAS TEMP CHKLIST INSTRUCTED US TO FEATHER THE ENG, EG, A PRECAUTIONARY SHUTDOWN. WE COMPLETED ALL NECESSARY ITEMS ON THE CHKLIST AND I THEN DECLARED AN EMER, AS I WAS OPERATING THE RADIOS, WITH ZME. WE WERE HANDED OFF TO SPRINGFIELD APCH CTL WHERE WE TOOK THE INVITATION TO USE THE FIRE TRUCKS STANDING BY JUST FOR SAFETY'S SAKE. WE LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER TROUBLE AND THE EMER SIT WAS CANCELED WITHOUT THE USE OF THE TRUCKS. HUMAN PERFORMANCE: TIMELY ACTION BY CREW AND CTLRS. READINESS OF GND CREWS GREAT.
