Narrative:
Aircraft deviated +300 ft after autoplt disconnected just prior to descent. ATC advised we appeared 300 ft high after the deviation was corrected. We responded 'roger.' the autoplt was disconnected intentionally, but it was out of trim and caused a pitching moment after it was disconnected that I did not adequately anticipate.

Title: DC10 CLBED 400 FT WHEN AUTOPLT WAS DISCONNECTED.
Narrative: ACFT DEVIATED +300 FT AFTER AUTOPLT DISCONNECTED JUST PRIOR TO DSCNT. ATC ADVISED WE APPEARED 300 FT HIGH AFTER THE DEV WAS CORRECTED. WE RESPONDED 'ROGER.' THE AUTOPLT WAS DISCONNECTED INTENTIONALLY, BUT IT WAS OUT OF TRIM AND CAUSED A PITCHING MOMENT AFTER IT WAS DISCONNECTED THAT I DID NOT ADEQUATELY ANTICIPATE.
