Narrative:
At FL310, #3 engine compressor stalled several times and began to fail. I pulled the #3 thrust back to idle. #3 stabilized. We dumped 75000 pounds of fuel and returned to hnl. Emergency was declared. Landing was uneventful.

Narrative: AT FL310, #3 ENG COMPRESSOR STALLED SEVERAL TIMES AND BEGAN TO FAIL. I PULLED THE #3 THRUST BACK TO IDLE. #3 STABILIZED. WE DUMPED 75000 LBS OF FUEL AND RETURNED TO HNL. EMER WAS DECLARED. LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL.
