Narrative:

We had been cleared to maintain 2000 ft until established. The localizer was bracketed and I had a clear view of the runway straight ahead. A distraction occurred in the cockpit -- the autoplt was engaged. As the distraction was addressed, approach control indicated low altitude warning. This was immediately addressed. Solution: never deviate from normal procedures, no matter how good the WX or what the reason.

Title: AN MU2B-60 CPR PLT ALLOWS HIS ACFT TO DSND BELOW THE GS DURING A VISUAL APCH TO HOU ARPT. ATC GIVES A LOW ALT ALERT TO CREW.

Narrative: WE HAD BEEN CLRED TO MAINTAIN 2000 FT UNTIL ESTABLISHED. THE LOC WAS BRACKETED AND I HAD A CLR VIEW OF THE RWY STRAIGHT AHEAD. A DISTR OCCURRED IN THE COCKPIT -- THE AUTOPLT WAS ENGAGED. AS THE DISTR WAS ADDRESSED, APCH CTL INDICATED LOW ALT WARNING. THIS WAS IMMEDIATELY ADDRESSED. SOLUTION: NEVER DEVIATE FROM NORMAL PROCS, NO MATTER HOW GOOD THE WX OR WHAT THE REASON.
