Narrative:
Controller issued direct to marker beacon. On a DME arc approach it is confusing if the controller does not mention continuing the arc to intercept the approach. Pilots do not know if the clearance is direct or should they continue the arc to intercept the approach. Controllers need to be specific on complex approachs.

Narrative: CTLR ISSUED DIRECT TO MARKER BEACON. ON A DME ARC APCH IT IS CONFUSING IF THE CTLR DOES NOT MENTION CONTINUING THE ARC TO INTERCEPT THE APCH. PLTS DO NOT KNOW IF THE CLRNC IS DIRECT OR SHOULD THEY CONTINUE THE ARC TO INTERCEPT THE APCH. CTLRS NEED TO BE SPECIFIC ON COMPLEX APCHS.
