Narrative:
Autoplt failed to hold selected cruise altitude. Climbed 300 ft. MCP annunciated green/normal, ie, there were no warning aural or visual. The altitude alert also did not indicate any deviation. ATC inquired about our altitude, the deviation was noted and corrected. Autoplt was written up.

Title: FLC OF A B737 CLBED ABOVE ASSIGNED CRUISING ALT DUE TO AUTOPLT ALT HOLD MALFUNCTION. THEY WERE ALERTED TO THEIR MISTAKE WHEN THE ARTCC CTLR QUESTIONED THEIR ALT.
Narrative: AUTOPLT FAILED TO HOLD SELECTED CRUISE ALT. CLBED 300 FT. MCP ANNUNCIATED GREEN/NORMAL, IE, THERE WERE NO WARNING AURAL OR VISUAL. THE ALT ALERT ALSO DID NOT INDICATE ANY DEV. ATC INQUIRED ABOUT OUR ALT, THE DEV WAS NOTED AND CORRECTED. AUTOPLT WAS WRITTEN UP.
