Narrative:
En route to har on bunts arrival, center directed a turn 40 degrees left with a descent to FL210 from FL250. Also cleared direct har after passing FL220. We complied with instructions and I turned the CDI of the VOR off scale to a random course. After a few mins, the CDI began ctring and I followed the course direct to har. However, we were at FL230, not yet at FL220. I realized my error 30 seconds later and corrected back to assigned heading until passing FL220, thence direct har. Possible conflict with another aircraft.
