Narrative:

Climbing out of tys direct arthur, ATC notified us of a momentary traffic signal at 10000 ft, 12 O'clock position and it disappeared. We were currently climbing through about 8500 ft to our clearance limit of 10000 ft. The captain and first officer displayed their respective TCASII screens and nothing was indicated. At about 9400 ft, the TCASII called 'traffic' then an immediate descent. Crew complied, ATC notified us of traffic also. We descended to 8500 ft. A clear of conflict was heard and ATC indicated we were also clear. We were reclred to 10000 ft. First indication by ATC reduce climb rate or get clearance to level off at lower altitude. Crew never saw the traffic.
