Narrative:
Company generated computer flight plan routing line contained a fix 'carfi' while the body of the flight plan called the same fix 'carac.' this FMS would not accept 'carfi' but would accept 'carac,' the correct name from the appropriate chart. The routing line is supposed to be the filed information. The body contains information necessary to accomplish the filed routing. This is a computer generated product. Such a difference/discrepancy should not be possible. Pilots are responsible for everything but modern air carrier operations are a team effort. Pilot are unable to check that everything they receive agrees with the source documents. The solution is to have all filed routings checked against a certified database, and to link the routing and body of the flight plan so that it is impossible to change one without the other.
