Narrative:
While on a routine trip to deliver an airplane I had misset the course selector on the RMI by 10 degrees. ATC advised me, I was 3 NM south of course and gave me a vector to rejoin the airway. I was well rested and comfortable in the aircraft. The temperature was cool at 10000 ft MSL so I turned the janitrol heater on. I smelled fumes but thought nothing of it. After discovering this error I wondered if something might be mechanically wrong with the aircraft, because I had a severe headache which lasted the rest of the day. I will be reporting suspicions to maintenance tomorrow am.
