Air Traffic Incident | Operational Error |
Narrative:
After landing on runway 27, we were instructed to hold short of runway 22R (on taxiway south). Cleared by tower to cross runway 22R (traffic holding for takeoff), take txwys east and a to gate, contact ground when clear. Clearing runway 22R takes you into taxiway K on the other side with your nose looking right first to insure holding aircraft was actually holding. I looked down to switch to ground control when clear. When I looked up I saw company commuter aircraft with taxi light off (to avoid blinding us) coming around on taxiway K and pointed and alerted captain. We swerved to right to avoid striking beechcraft commuter. Called tower when in gate and controller admitted operational error (ground assumed tower would clear us after commuter cleared taxiway east). We were on different frequencys when clearance was given. Recommend holding point on taxiway K prior to K1.

Title: FLC OF A B737-400 DURING TAXI IN SWERVED TO AVOID COLLISION WITH A BEECH 1900 COMMUTER TAXIING OUT ON AN INTERSECTING TXWY.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG ON RWY 27, WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 22R (ON TXWY S). CLRED BY TWR TO CROSS RWY 22R (TFC HOLDING FOR TKOF), TAKE TXWYS E AND A TO GATE, CONTACT GND WHEN CLR. CLRING RWY 22R TAKES YOU INTO TXWY K ON THE OTHER SIDE WITH YOUR NOSE LOOKING R FIRST TO INSURE HOLDING ACFT WAS ACTUALLY HOLDING. I LOOKED DOWN TO SWITCH TO GND CTL WHEN CLR. WHEN I LOOKED UP I SAW COMPANY COMMUTER ACFT WITH TAXI LIGHT OFF (TO AVOID BLINDING US) COMING AROUND ON TXWY K AND POINTED AND ALERTED CAPT. WE SWERVED TO R TO AVOID STRIKING BEECHCRAFT COMMUTER. CALLED TWR WHEN IN GATE AND CTLR ADMITTED OPERROR (GND ASSUMED TWR WOULD CLR US AFTER COMMUTER CLRED TXWY E). WE WERE ON DIFFERENT FREQS WHEN CLRNC WAS GIVEN. RECOMMEND HOLDING POINT ON TXWY K PRIOR TO K1.
