Narrative:
Climbing out from ord we were instructed to 'build speed rapidly.' captain was hand flying in shallow climb until reaching 250 KTS. Approaching 5000 ft leveloff altitude, rate of climb was in excess of 3500 FPM. As PNF, I made altitude calls and PF attempted leveloff. However, due to climb rate, altitude reached 5500 ft and immediate descent was initiated. Descending through 5200 ft we were cleared to higher altitude. No traffic conflicts.

Title: A DEP CL65 OVERSHOOTS ITS ASSIGNED ALT 4 MI NW OF ORD, IL.
Narrative: CLBING OUT FROM ORD WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO 'BUILD SPD RAPIDLY.' CAPT WAS HAND FLYING IN SHALLOW CLB UNTIL REACHING 250 KTS. APCHING 5000 FT LEVELOFF ALT, RATE OF CLB WAS IN EXCESS OF 3500 FPM. AS PNF, I MADE ALT CALLS AND PF ATTEMPTED LEVELOFF. HOWEVER, DUE TO CLB RATE, ALT REACHED 5500 FT AND IMMEDIATE DSCNT WAS INITIATED. DSNDING THROUGH 5200 FT WE WERE CLRED TO HIGHER ALT. NO TFC CONFLICTS.
