Narrative:
Contacted dfw tower on a visual approach to runway 35C and was told to continue. Due to frequency congestion with aircraft on ground, took several tries to get landing clearance. It was received just prior to touchdown and rejected landing. Tower frequencys should not be that congested. Takeoff and landing traffic should have easy access to the tower controller, for timely instructions and clrncs.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: DC9 FLC HAS DIFFICULTY RECEIVING LNDG CLRNC AT DFW.
Narrative: CONTACTED DFW TWR ON A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 35C AND WAS TOLD TO CONTINUE. DUE TO FREQ CONGESTION WITH ACFT ON GND, TOOK SEVERAL TRIES TO GET LNDG CLRNC. IT WAS RECEIVED JUST PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN AND REJECTED LNDG. TWR FREQS SHOULD NOT BE THAT CONGESTED. TKOF AND LNDG TFC SHOULD HAVE EASY ACCESS TO THE TWR CTLR, FOR TIMELY INSTRUCTIONS AND CLRNCS.
