Narrative:
Engine failure 1 hour 45 mins from jfk going to madrid. Failed at about 41 degrees north 57 degrees west. Returned to halifax, nova scotia. B767-200 pratt engines. Supplemental information from acn 435280: in cruise flight at FL360, smooth air, VMC, the B767 left engine overtemped and shut itself down simultaneously. We secured the engine while clearing the track and descending to single engine altitude of FL220. We proceeded directly to the nearest suitable airport -- halifax, nova scotia, just over 1 hour away. The WX was cavok there, and we made a successful single engine overweight landing.
