Narrative:
Flight was handed off from ZID to a second ind frequency. The captain, performing PNF duties, acknowledged the handoff. We continued en route. Then in listening to the frequency now on we realized it was incorrect. We contacted the previous frequency and were given the correct frequency, which we contacted promptly. We were out of communication for probably 15 mins.
