Narrative:
We were cleared to cross 'jaybo' at 15000 ft (as published). I acknowledged the clearance and the captain (PF) set it up in the FMC. In retrospect, I realize now that we were past the FMC computed TOD (top of descent) and therefore the descent wasn't initiated. We must have been distracted and didn't pick up on this. The controller notified us that we were supposed to cross 'jaybo' at 15000 ft. At that point we initiated an expedited descent.

Title: FLC OF A B757 FAILED TO MAKE DSCNT XING ALT DUE TO THE LATE PROGRAMMING OF THE ACFT FMS.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS 'JAYBO' AT 15000 FT (AS PUBLISHED). I ACKNOWLEDGED THE CLRNC AND THE CAPT (PF) SET IT UP IN THE FMC. IN RETROSPECT, I REALIZE NOW THAT WE WERE PAST THE FMC COMPUTED TOD (TOP OF DSCNT) AND THEREFORE THE DSCNT WASN'T INITIATED. WE MUST HAVE BEEN DISTRACTED AND DIDN'T PICK UP ON THIS. THE CTLR NOTIFIED US THAT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO CROSS 'JAYBO' AT 15000 FT. AT THAT POINT WE INITIATED AN EXPEDITED DSCNT.
