Narrative:
Sdf tower cleared us to take off on runway 35L. After crossing the hold short line, tower said hold short. My response, 'negative, we are on the runway -- advise.' she said, 'you are ok there,' as well did the pilot of the king air on final. I responded, 'unacceptable.' she (tower) said, 'make a 180 degree turn to exit runway,' and that is what PF did. Trying to push too much tin without proper separation along with what was perceived by this crew that the tower controller was inexperienced with non standard events. Meaning, once she had created this situation and then realized it would not work she choked, and paused and had to be prompted to give direction on what was the correct action to take. In retrospect, the separation looked tight but ok to this crew from the ground position we were in, but once we had our takeoff clearance removed and were told to hold short, we got hung out to dry.

Title: A SMALL ACR ACFT IS LEFT HANGING OVER THE HOLD SHORT LINE AFTER ITS TKOF CLRNC HAD BEEN RESCINDED WHILE A KING AIR IS ON SHORT FINAL.
Narrative: SDF TWR CLRED US TO TAKE OFF ON RWY 35L. AFTER XING THE HOLD SHORT LINE, TWR SAID HOLD SHORT. MY RESPONSE, 'NEGATIVE, WE ARE ON THE RWY -- ADVISE.' SHE SAID, 'YOU ARE OK THERE,' AS WELL DID THE PLT OF THE KING AIR ON FINAL. I RESPONDED, 'UNACCEPTABLE.' SHE (TWR) SAID, 'MAKE A 180 DEG TURN TO EXIT RWY,' AND THAT IS WHAT PF DID. TRYING TO PUSH TOO MUCH TIN WITHOUT PROPER SEPARATION ALONG WITH WHAT WAS PERCEIVED BY THIS CREW THAT THE TWR CTLR WAS INEXPERIENCED WITH NON STANDARD EVENTS. MEANING, ONCE SHE HAD CREATED THIS SIT AND THEN REALIZED IT WOULD NOT WORK SHE CHOKED, AND PAUSED AND HAD TO BE PROMPTED TO GIVE DIRECTION ON WHAT WAS THE CORRECT ACTION TO TAKE. IN RETROSPECT, THE SEPARATION LOOKED TIGHT BUT OK TO THIS CREW FROM THE GND POS WE WERE IN, BUT ONCE WE HAD OUR TKOF CLRNC REMOVED AND WERE TOLD TO HOLD SHORT, WE GOT HUNG OUT TO DRY.
