Narrative:
We were in aircraft about 5 NM northwest of opa locka west (X56) executing turns about a point. We were turning to the left when the bird came into view. I made an evasive left turn to avoid a strike, but the bird struck on the right wing. Damage to the center section of the right wing was extensive. I called FSS and declared an emergency. I executed an emergency landing at opa locka west.
