Narrative:
Aircraft was very light and had a climb rate of 5000 FPM. We were climbing through moderate turbulence and leveled off at FL230. Center called to verify our altitude and we both realized we never reset our altimeters at FL180. They were both showing 29.64 inches -- approximately 280 ft off. There was no traffic conflict, just the embarrassment of not paying closer attention to climb check duties. Unusually high climb rate along with moderate turbulence combined with passenger PA's to remain seated. All contributed to our missing to reset the altimeters to 29.92 inches at FL180.
