Narrative:

We pushed back from gate at lax onto taxiway C with nose to the east. After start and release from guidance, we obtained taxi clearance from ground control. A B747-400 had moved into the same gate and parked. We initiated taxi and after turning into taxiway B, a flight attendant advised the cockpit that a passenger had observed the left wingtip come into contact with the B747-400 wingtip. We advised our passenger that we had struck the other aircraft and that we would go to a maintenance area for inspection. The passenger were bussed to the terminal. There was an NTSB investigator on our observer's jump seat. He offered to make a statement.
