Narrative:

While departing abe we were assigned 6000 ft and heading 280 degrees. Before reaching either we were assigned 7000 ft and heading 280 degrees. Observed airliner at our approximately altitude heading northwest. When 7000 ft clearance was given copilot read it back as 7000 ft and 280 degree on the heading. As we leveled at 7000 ft airliner was approximately 2 mi at our 2 O'clock position. At that point airliner was trying to contact allentown approach and told controller that his TCASII was instructing him to climb. Controller then asked us what our altitude is, and we replied, '7000 ft, assigned.' controller said sarcastically that our '...altitude should be 6000 ft.' we replied, 'negative, we were assigned 7000 ft and read back 7000 ft.' before we were handed off to ZNY controller was heard telling airliner that we left our assigned altitude. I think controller made a mistake on our altitude assignment. We never heard anything else from any controllers on the way home. Allentown approach frequency 124.45. Time: PM00 approximately. Depart runway 6 at abe.

Title: A DEP HS125 FLC IS CITED BY THE DEP CTLR AS LEAVING THEIR ASSIGNED ALT WHEN THEY COME IN CONFLICT WITH A DEP DH8 OUT OF ABE, PA.

Narrative: WHILE DEPARTING ABE WE WERE ASSIGNED 6000 FT AND HDG 280 DEGS. BEFORE REACHING EITHER WE WERE ASSIGNED 7000 FT AND HDG 280 DEGS. OBSERVED AIRLINER AT OUR APPROX ALT HEADING NW. WHEN 7000 FT CLRNC WAS GIVEN COPLT READ IT BACK AS 7000 FT AND 280 DEG ON THE HEADING. AS WE LEVELED AT 7000 FT AIRLINER WAS APPROX 2 MI AT OUR 2 O'CLOCK POS. AT THAT POINT AIRLINER WAS TRYING TO CONTACT ALLENTOWN APCH AND TOLD CTLR THAT HIS TCASII WAS INSTRUCTING HIM TO CLB. CTLR THEN ASKED US WHAT OUR ALT IS, AND WE REPLIED, '7000 FT, ASSIGNED.' CTLR SAID SARCASTICALLY THAT OUR '...ALT SHOULD BE 6000 FT.' WE REPLIED, 'NEGATIVE, WE WERE ASSIGNED 7000 FT AND READ BACK 7000 FT.' BEFORE WE WERE HANDED OFF TO ZNY CTLR WAS HEARD TELLING AIRLINER THAT WE LEFT OUR ASSIGNED ALT. I THINK CTLR MADE A MISTAKE ON OUR ALT ASSIGNMENT. WE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING ELSE FROM ANY CTLRS ON THE WAY HOME. ALLENTOWN APCH FREQ 124.45. TIME: PM00 APPROX. DEPART RWY 6 AT ABE.
