Narrative:
Last acknowledged speed was 210 KTS on visual approach to runway 18L in clt. Frequency was very busy. Controller asked us if we were doing 170 KIAS. We responded that last given was 210 KTS. Both controller and flight crew thought they were right. With frequency congestion flight crew could have been wrong. Best solution is to always verify and xchk. No conflict occurred.
