Narrative:

A go around was accomplished due to wind gusts at touchdown (windshear was encountered at about 2000 ft on ILS final) (-20 KTS then +20 KTS). We remained VFR as directed by ewr tower and turned downwind at 2000 ft. As I put the autoplt on, the mode selector indicated altitude select (I was 2050 ft in slight descent). When autothrottles were engaged, they were commanded to go around power. Nose pitched up and aircraft climbed to 2300 ft before autoplt and autothrottle could be disconnected and flown back to 2000 ft. No traffic conflicts in area. Remainder of approach and landing uneventful.
