Narrative:

MD11 cargo jet from ewr to anc developed low oil pressure and vibration on #2 engine. Operated at idle and communicated with company through ACARS, determined to shut engine down. Used ACARS to determine WX at nearest airports and runway lengths from onboard navigation kit and decided to proceed to anchorage, to nearest suitable airport. No problems...mechanics found lots of metal in oil sumps and started engine change.
