Narrative:
We were cleared to fly direct to orvll intersection. I looked at the STAR and saw orvll which I began typing into the FMS. About that time I was distracted by a passenger wanting a cabin attendant. I typed in 'orvil' and entered direct. The plane turned to a heading of 300 degrees approximately and headed to orvil 3300 mi away. While I called for a cabin attendant, the controller asked what our heading was and I told him 300 degrees. He said turn right to 010 degrees for orvll. I discovered my problem and entered orvll instead of orvil and told the controller what happened when he asked why we were flying the wrong heading. The mistake I made was allowing a passenger to distract my flying at a busy time.

Narrative: WE WERE CLRED TO FLY DIRECT TO ORVLL INTXN. I LOOKED AT THE STAR AND SAW ORVLL WHICH I BEGAN TYPING INTO THE FMS. ABOUT THAT TIME I WAS DISTRACTED BY A PAX WANTING A CABIN ATTENDANT. I TYPED IN 'ORVIL' AND ENTERED DIRECT. THE PLANE TURNED TO A HDG OF 300 DEGS APPROX AND HEADED TO ORVIL 3300 MI AWAY. WHILE I CALLED FOR A CABIN ATTENDANT, THE CTLR ASKED WHAT OUR HEADING WAS AND I TOLD HIM 300 DEGS. HE SAID TURN R TO 010 DEGS FOR ORVLL. I DISCOVERED MY PROB AND ENTERED ORVLL INSTEAD OF ORVIL AND TOLD THE CTLR WHAT HAPPENED WHEN HE ASKED WHY WE WERE FLYING THE WRONG HEADING. THE MISTAKE I MADE WAS ALLOWING A PAX TO DISTRACT MY FLYING AT A BUSY TIME.
