Narrative:
Lgb has only 1 SID published, the anaheim 2 departure (ANAHM2.sli). On the departure charts there is no mention that this procedure is not authority/authorized for jet aircraft. The airport does use a 'standard departure,' however, it is not published. The procedure for runway 30 is: runway heading until 1500 ft MSL, then left turn to 270 degrees vectors to lax VOR.' this and any other procedure should be published. This allows the cockpit crew to be prepared in advance for this procedure, which allows for higher degree of safety, and no rushing. I talked with the lgb tower by phone, and was told the tower personnel agree, that there is frequently confusion, as jet crews will file the 'anaheim 2,' not knowing that it is not authority/authorized for jets, but is the only published SID. Let's get this procedure published. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the PIC called back and stated that he had experienced a 5 min delay in the first incident at lgb. It took that long to sort out and obtain a revised departure clearance and time from ATC. The second time into lgb he filed '...lax direct gorman...' and was given the 'standard airport departure procedure' with any delay. He quoted the tower personnel as saying that they are 'frustrated' over this situation and want something done about it.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A CPR JET PIC COMPLAINS OF THE LGB SID, ANAHM2 PT SLI AS NOT BEING AUTH FOR JET ACFT BUT BEING FILED ON A CONSTANT BASIS BY JET CREWS. HE WANTS THE UNPUBLISHED STANDARD ARPT DEP PROC PUBLISHED SO CREWS MAY FLT PLAN IN A MORE ORDERLY FASHION.
Narrative: LGB HAS ONLY 1 SID PUBLISHED, THE ANAHEIM 2 DEP (ANAHM2.SLI). ON THE DEP CHARTS THERE IS NO MENTION THAT THIS PROC IS NOT AUTH FOR JET ACFT. THE ARPT DOES USE A 'STANDARD DEP,' HOWEVER, IT IS NOT PUBLISHED. THE PROC FOR RWY 30 IS: RWY HDG UNTIL 1500 FT MSL, THEN L TURN TO 270 DEGS VECTORS TO LAX VOR.' THIS AND ANY OTHER PROC SHOULD BE PUBLISHED. THIS ALLOWS THE COCKPIT CREW TO BE PREPARED IN ADVANCE FOR THIS PROC, WHICH ALLOWS FOR HIGHER DEG OF SAFETY, AND NO RUSHING. I TALKED WITH THE LGB TWR BY PHONE, AND WAS TOLD THE TWR PERSONNEL AGREE, THAT THERE IS FREQUENTLY CONFUSION, AS JET CREWS WILL FILE THE 'ANAHEIM 2,' NOT KNOWING THAT IT IS NOT AUTH FOR JETS, BUT IS THE ONLY PUBLISHED SID. LET'S GET THIS PROC PUBLISHED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE PIC CALLED BACK AND STATED THAT HE HAD EXPERIENCED A 5 MIN DELAY IN THE FIRST INCIDENT AT LGB. IT TOOK THAT LONG TO SORT OUT AND OBTAIN A REVISED DEP CLRNC AND TIME FROM ATC. THE SECOND TIME INTO LGB HE FILED '...LAX DIRECT GORMAN...' AND WAS GIVEN THE 'STANDARD ARPT DEP PROC' WITH ANY DELAY. HE QUOTED THE TWR PERSONNEL AS SAYING THAT THEY ARE 'FRUSTRATED' OVER THIS SIT AND WANT SOMETHING DONE ABOUT IT.
