Narrative:

I was the captain on jun/xa/99 from aex to dfw. We landed on runway 17C, turned off at the designated intersection. I found the intersection but failed to see the side marker for runway 17R hold lines. I assumed I had more room, and my first officer alertly said we were not cleared across. Realizing that I was over the line, I backed the aircraft past the hold line where I was supposed to be. Meanwhile, a company saab had just begun takeoff roll on runway 17R. He was never a factor and neither he nor the controller ever made mention of my error, nor do I think they were ever aware of my incursion. At no time were we in danger of a collision, nor was our aircraft on the actual runway.

Narrative: I WAS THE CAPT ON JUN/XA/99 FROM AEX TO DFW. WE LANDED ON RWY 17C, TURNED OFF AT THE DESIGNATED INTXN. I FOUND THE INTXN BUT FAILED TO SEE THE SIDE MARKER FOR RWY 17R HOLD LINES. I ASSUMED I HAD MORE ROOM, AND MY FO ALERTLY SAID WE WERE NOT CLRED ACROSS. REALIZING THAT I WAS OVER THE LINE, I BACKED THE ACFT PAST THE HOLD LINE WHERE I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE. MEANWHILE, A COMPANY SAAB HAD JUST BEGUN TKOF ROLL ON RWY 17R. HE WAS NEVER A FACTOR AND NEITHER HE NOR THE CTLR EVER MADE MENTION OF MY ERROR, NOR DO I THINK THEY WERE EVER AWARE OF MY INCURSION. AT NO TIME WERE WE IN DANGER OF A COLLISION, NOR WAS OUR ACFT ON THE ACTUAL RWY.
