Narrative:
Was cleared for takeoff. Takeoff roll was sluggish. Engine began missing. Aborted takeoff. Was instructed to turn left on taxiway. Inadvertently turned left onto inactive runway. Contributing factors include: frequent use of inactive runway to taxi (when instructed) and jet on short final to active runway. I was trying to get clear of active runway quickly to keep jet from having to go around. To avoid this problem, runways should not be used as txwys when adequate txwys exist. Also, should stay calm and listen more closely during instructions after aborted takeoffs.
