Narrative:
On kayoh 4 arrival into lgb on 255 degree radial from sli at approximately 40 DME approach control called traffic at 12 O'clock 5 mi and thereafter every mi. We obtained a visual of the traffic at about 2 mi. Since the traffic was climbing, we got an RA from the TCASII since it was visual and well off to our right we did not to respond to the RA. The FAA inspector on the jump seat took exception to that.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A B737-200 FLC DID NOT FOLLOW THE TCASII RA AS THEY HAD ESTABLISHED VISUAL CONTACT WITH THE INTRUDING ACFT. AN FAA ACR INSPECTOR DIFFERED WITH THE FLC'S LACK OF RESPONSE TO THE RA.
